Let’s Start

To start driving with GoCatch, you’ll first need to verify your eligibility as a driver. All drivers must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Hold a full, unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence for a minimum period of 12 months
  • Have a current Driver Authority / Accreditation / Extension in your home state (see below)
  • Have an iOS or Android phone
  • Be able to speak fluent English

NSW Private Hire Vehicle Driver Authority

Victorian Driver Accreditation

GoCatch is working closely with the Taxi Services Commission to assist with the ongoing rollout of the new transportation framework. As such, we require every driver with GoCatch to hold an appropriate and valid Driver Accreditation.

Queensland Booked Hire Service Licence (BHSL)

Vehicle Safety Certificate

The Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads requires all ride-booking drivers to obtain a current vehicle safety certificate, issued by an Approved Inspection Station.

Drivers are required to maintain this certificate in their vehicle at all times when providing ride-booking services and are expected to provide evidence of it when requested by a Transport Inspector.

NOTE: Certificates are valid for 12 months. Each registered vehicle on the GoCatch platform must have its own certificate.

South Australian Driver Accreditation

For more information, visit this website. Your Driver Accreditation will need to be renewed every 3 years. Before you can apply for driver accreditation you must have a valid child-related employment screening clearance issued through the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI).

An application for driver accreditation is required to confirm that the driver does not suffer any physical or mental incapacity that would impair their ability to work effectively as the driver of a public vehicle.

Western Australia Accreditation (F/T Extension)

An F extension, also known as a bus driver’s licence or charter vehicle licence, allows a driver to carry passengers for hire or reward, regardless of the number of seats fitted. An F extension is not required if you have held a T (taxi) extension and have held a Driver’s Licence for 4 years in WA. This licence is an extension of your existing driver’s licence. You must also have the relevant licence for the class of vehicle you will be driving.

NT Commercial Passenger Vehicle Licence – H Endorsement & CPVID

This endorsement is also necessary for anyone wanting to hold a commercial passenger vehicle identity (CPVID) card. Both the H endorsement and CPVID card are required to drive with GoCatch.

ACT D Condition Rideshare Accreditation

For more information, visit this website. All drivers are required to meet the new regulatory requirements set out under the Road Transport (Public Passenger Services) Regulation 2002 and the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulation 2000.

From 8 November 2017 public vehicle driver licence holders will be required to hold a working with vulnerable people registration under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011.

You will need to complete the following:

  • Upgrade your driver licence to obtain a ‘D’ condition
  • Meet all eligibility requirements
  • A completed ‘Commercial driver’s health assessment’.
  • A completed ‘Rideshare vehicle licence application’, if required
  • A completed ‘Rideshare driver accreditation and vehicle licence application’
  • A completed ‘Authorisation to release public passenger driver licence and accreditation status’
  • A copy of the public liability insurance policy for the vehicle (this must be in the registered operator’s name and endorsed for Rm ideshare or listed for business or commercial use)
  • A copy of your working with vulnerable people registration card

Vehicle Requirements

Most 4-door vehicles are qualified to drive with GoCatch. However, depending on the vehicle you drive, requirements may vary. If you don’t own a car or it doesn’t meet our requirements, you may be able to use a vehicle from a third party provider or rental.

All cars driving with GoCatch must be:

  • In excellent working condition – internal and external, i.e. must not have any significant internal or external wear and tear such as, but not limited to, upholstery stains or dents/scratches on the bodywork
  • 2008 model, or newer
  • No more than 300,000kms on the odometer
  • Have 4 outward opening doors with external handles, or accessible sliding door
  • Registered in your state
  • Not have any commercial branding
  • Not be a convertible, ex-taxi, bus, truck, instructor vehicle or utility vehicle with a cargo tray
  • All vehicles driving with GoCatch must be covered by compulsory CTP third party insurance, and have third-party property damage insurance. Click on your state above in ‘Licence & Documentation’ to view more information.

All GoCatch drivers in QLD and NSW will need to display GoCatch identification signage on their vehicle. Each sign package includes 2 signs and 2 adhesive sleeves for $8 which will be deducted from your driver account in the next pay cycle after request.

I already drive with another company – can I drive with GoCatch too?

Absolutely! Plenty of our drivers drive for several platforms, and it’s a great way to earn extra money for the same effort. Driving with GoCatch is a great way to supplement your income and maximise your time out on the road.

How do I get paid?

Driving with GoCatch means that you take home 85% of all passenger fares as well as tips, which are paid into your nominated bank account weekly.

Do I need to visit an office to sign up?

We know that your time is valuable, which is why we’ve moved the entire on-boarding process completely online without the need to visit an office. This means that you can now finish your on-boarding process at whatever time suits you, from the comfort of your home, office or car. Need help? What if my car does not meet the requirements?

If your vehicle does not meet our requirements for Premium, it may be eligible for Economy. Please refer to the Economy page for more information.
